Barbaric Tribes Board Builder Project

Page history last edited by Adrienne Matjasic 4 years, 4 months ago

Create a project and share it with Mrs. Matjasic. Type "Carozza" and select appropriate period #.

You need to cite your 3 sources of information and your 5 images (8 total citations).

  • If you get information and an image from the same source, you need to cite them separately.
  • The works cited is worth 20 points. Click here for the rubric, or access it via your project dashboard in Noodletools.

  • If working with a partner: One group member will create the project and share with Mrs. Matjasic. Other group members will be added via the Collaboration feature in Noodletools.

Note-taking Google Doc Form (use this link only when initially setting up)

Citing images from databases: Images in library databases contain preformatted citations. You can follow the same directions above, however you will select "Photo or Image Born Digital" instead of "Original Content".

Citing images from websites: Select “Website" followed by "Photo or Image Born Digital". Fill in as many blanks as you can (the name of the site, the copyright date, the URL, a description of the image, etc.) Be sure to cite the webpage on which the image is found, not Google Images.

Board Builder

After researching your tribe, you will type questions on the board (in the form of text boxes) and record the answers using Sound Recorder. The answers will be uploaded as audio clips onto the board. Directions are below.

Only one group member can edit the board at a time.

Log into Discovery Ed with the username and password you were given by the teacher (it will have the name of the tribe in it).

Select "Builder Tools" in the left-hand menu. Select "Board Builder". Once you start a board, click "My Boards" to locate it.

In the Edit mode, use the tools on the left to add items (text, media)

Your board will consist of:

  • Title (tribe name and student names)
  • 11 text boxes (10 questions + the link to your Google Doc)
  • 10 audio clips

To record and insert audio clips:

Plug in a microphone (or use the built-in mic on your laptop)

Search for Voice Recorder on your computer.

Press  when you are ready to start recording the answer and  when you are finished.

Right-click on the saved recording and Export as .mp3. Name it "Question ___" and save to your user folder.

On your Discovery Ed board, add another media box if necessary.

Upload the file - (you may need to change to "All files" instead of "Custom files" to locate the file).
